The street sweeper keeps the 192 lane miles of streets and cul-de-sacs in the city clean.

The frequency of street sweeping is based on the level of traffic on the street. The main thoroughfares in the City are swept every six to eight weeks. The downtown area is swept monthly, when weather permits, and all residential streets, with or without curbs, are swept three times a year.

Additional sweeping is done in preparation for street maintenance programs and to clean up after they are completed.

The primary season for street cleaning is March through December when weather permits.

For unusual circumstances, such as broken glass, you can request street sweeping by submitting a service request or by calling the Public Works Department, 913.856.0914, with a description, location of the problem, and any other pertinent information. Regular business hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
