The City of Gardner Public Works Department consist of two divisions – Operations and Engineering. Within these divisions, the department manages and maintains city engineering, public rights-of-way, streets, traffic signs and signals, storm water, fleet maintenance, and city building maintenance.
Other responsibilities of the Public Works Department include planning, designing, and constructing elements of the City's infrastructure; managing the City's environmental programs; operation and maintenance of the City's storm water systems, streets, and traffic control network; maintenance of the city's fleet of vehicles and equipment; and upkeep of city buildings and facilities.
In accordance with the City's goals to provide high-level sustainable services to its citizens, several Master Plans have been developed and approved in the last few years. Staff will continue to develop additional Master Plans and update the existing plans as growth and citywide needs dictate.
