Dear Water Customer:
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) now requires all public water supply system owners to create an inventory of both public and private lead service lines. (A service line is the pipe that connects the water main to the plumbing in a home or building. If any part of that pipe is made of lead, it is referred to as a lead service line.) This inventory must be submitted to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment by November 16, 2024, along with continued reporting and tracking.
While lead isn't present in the source water, it can enter tap water through older pipes within a home. The city is asking all customers to complete the survey below to help assess pipes within the water system. Your cooperation will help ensure we continue to provide clean, safe drinking water. Thank you for completing the questionnaire!
Additional information on the Lead and Copper Rule, as well as identifying lead pipes and plumbing, can be found on the KDHE website at kdhe.ks.gov/547 or the EPA website at epa.gov/dwreginfo/lead-and-copper-rule.
