Have you always wanted to write for fun and (possibly) profit? Geared to all writers-- whose interests may be in a wide variety of genres, with skills from beginning to experienced. This class is for adults or young adults (14 and older) who want to know more and would value feedback on current writing projects. The initial classes (2) will include short writing lessons and/or participation in short writing exercises and discussions of writing and publication. After a break to give everyone time to write, the remaining 4 classes will include some instruction but will be mostly geared to learning through participation. Those willing to share their work will receive critiques from the instructor and the rest of the group. Those who do not want to read aloud will learn by listening and participating in the critiques of others.
This class is instructed by local author, Alfie Thompson. Alfie has 10 novels that have been published by Harlequin and Silhouette in 29 languages and in 33 countries under the pseudonym Val Daniels. Alfie has also sold non-fiction under her own name. Her book Lights, Camera, Fiction: A Movie Lovers Guide to Writing a Novel was published by Running Press and has been the source of many conference workshops and writing programs to writing groups of all sizes.
