The Police Reserve Program has a long history with the City of Gardner. We are very proud of our citizens who join this group to assist us in the protection of the City. The City's reserve personnel come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Many are firefighters from other agencies, insurance executives, Med-Act command personnel, etc..

If the Reserve Officer program interests you, please contact the Police Department to apply. Applications can be mailed to the Gardner Police Department (PD) at 440 E. Main, Gardner Kansas 66030 or can be delivered in person at the PD Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. An application is linked below for this position and can be downloaded for completion. Because this position will have policing powers, the reserve applicant must undergo a significant background investigation prior to appointment. These persons also receive both formal and on-the-job training. Reserves ride in patrol cars with seasoned officers and also assist with such things as court baliff duties and assisting at accident scenes. Reserve officers also assist with duties for the Johnson County Parade each August and other special events in the City that may occur.
