Utility Director (Utilities) - Salary up to $107,892/yr. - To operate, implement, plan and direct a comprehensive utility program that will insure sound planning, maintenance and service to the public for water, wastewater and electric systems.  The director will assist the City Administrator and other city officials in determining overall policy and direction for the City utility programs; administer all functions to include budgeting, scheduling and coordination, capital improvements, implementation, planning, personnel, and long and short range projects for the utilities.  This position serves as a key member of the City Administrator’s management team.  Gardner is a growing and progressive community located in southwestern Johnson County within the Kansas City metropolitan area.  Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in engineering, public administration, management or related field and ten (10) years of increasingly responsible management experience in engineering and the utility industry.  Proven track record of leadership and employee involvement.  Excellent judgment and decision making skills.  Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively motivate others.  Possession of a valid driver’s license.  Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Competitive benefit package is included.  Hours:  Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, plus evening meetings as required.  Application Deadline:  Open until filled with first review date: 8/18/14.
 
Police Officer (Police) - Salary Range:  $19.35 - $28.10/hr - To perform general duty police work consisting of patrol work on an assigned shift, preliminary investigation and miscellaneous duties incidental thereto.  Requirements include Bachelor or Master’s Degree preferred, but will accept graduation from a standard high school; supplemented by training of a certified law enforcement academy or center; or any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, ability and skill.  Possession of a valid driver’s license is required.  Physical and mental fitness required, and at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment. Selection guidelines include; formal application; rating of education and experience; oral interview; polygraph; background check; and psychological evaluation.  Salary Range:  $19.35 – 28.10/hr.  Application Deadline:  Open Until Filled with first review date:  8/8/14.  Submit completed Police application (separate from all other positions)
 
Administrative Assistant (Electric) – Salary: $15.19 – $22.06/hr – To provide administrative functions and work under the direction of the Distribution Supervisor and other administrative staff.  Requires high school diploma or GED and minimum of two (2) years experience in office work, or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the appropriate knowledge, abilities, and skills.  Hours M-F; 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM.  Application Deadline:  8/15/14
