Gardner has two organizations that work to promote business development and retention. The Gardner Chamber of Commerce and Southwest Johnson County Economic Development Corporation. Below is information for both organizations:

The Gardner Area Chamber of Commerce is a membership organization comprised of area businesses whose purpose is to provide research and information to businesses and citizens relating to business and economic opportunities in the City of Gardner. The Chamber coordinates and encourages business involvement in community quality of life programs for the citizens of Gardner. The Chamber also provides visitor information services and information for those looking to become a new resident of Gardner.

The Southwest Johnson County Economic Development Corporation is a cooperative effort of the City of Edgerton, Kansas, the City of Gardner, Kansas and the Johnson County Airport Commission. Its primary mission is to stimulate economic growth by demonstrating to new and existing companies the unique business advantage of a southwest Johnson County location.

The City of Gardner primarily uses the SJCEDC for statistical and demographic information useful in obtaining favorable financial ratings and in predicting growth. In addition, the organization provides services to assist in attracting new employers and businesses to the City.
